Membrane Roof Restoration

Typical of low slope roofing systems, smooth BUR roofing systems can leave you chasing leaks for months or years. These systems can develop blisters, cracks, undulations, or split joints that can reduce their performance. Many of these issues are easily preventable with routine checks and maintenance. With over 15 years of experience in the roofing industry, Flag Ship Foam and Coatings is a name you can trust for your BUR roof or modified bitumen restorations.

What exactly is BUR? Reinforcing fabrics (glass-fiber mats or organic mats), which create a finished membrane. BURs are fully adhered to roof decks or insulation using asphalt, coal tar, or adhesive.

Low installation costs and minimum upkeep makes membrane roofs a fantastic choice for property owners who need economical roof installations.  While BURs are generally low maintenance, it’s advisable to inspect them at least twice a year to ensure the bitumen remains up to standards.

Why Restore Your Membrane Roof?

Investing in BUR roof restoration services means you truly value your roof.  You understand the value involved in updating and protecting that roofing system and the asset it protects. By partnering with Flag Ship Foam and Coatings, you’re assured of the following:

Long-lasting roof: A fabric reinforced coating over your BUR roof will add a layer of protection that eliminates nasty leaks and dramatically extends your roof’s lifespan.

Value:  Restoration not only improves the roofing system’s longevity; it is significantly less expensive than a tear-off and replacement.  Depending on your choices, you could easily see savings in your utility bills and reduced energy consumption, as well.

No more leaks: Suitable for aging BURs, our flat roof coating creates a flexible but water-resistant covering that locks out water by providing a seamless, monolithic barrier across the entire roofing surface.

Greater energy efficiency: When restoring BUR roofs, we use white color coatings with excellent UV and heat reflective abilities. The fresh coat will lower your roof temperatures in summer and help you realize significant energy savings over the life of your roof.

The Restoration Process

The process of restoring your roofing system allows for our team to minimize any interruption or intrusion into your business routine.

Step 1. Our roof technicians will first clean up the roof to remove loose dirt.  Starting with a clean, debris free surface is critical to proper adhesion.

Step 2. Next, we seal all protrusions and areas of potential leaks. Primer is sprayed over the whole roof.

Step 3. A base coat is applied directly on all penetrations, seams and enlaps.

Step 4. Finally, SpunFlex fabric will be embedded and highly reflective top-coat is applied.

Each step of the process is critical.  Failure to complete any of them in a thorough and professional fashion will lead to future failure of the roofing system.

Flag Ship Foam and Coatings understands the importance and value of each step.  We choose to utilize only the highest quality materials.  Our team is composed of skilled craftsman, who take pride in each and every installation they do.  Maybe best of all, we know the importance of your building and your business, so we ensure that every encounter is conducted in only the most professional fashion possible.
