Membrane Roofing

Single-ply roofing, or membrane roofing as it is also called, is a popular roofing option in Montana. Used most frequently on low-sloping or flat roofs, membranes are an excellent choice in roofing system protection. Over the last 30 years, this material has displaced older roof coverings such as tar paper and other outdated options. When properly installed, membrane roofing offers more benefits than many other traditional roofing systems.

For nearly two decades, Flag Ship Foam and Coatings has been installing single-ply roofing membranes on commercial building and facilities in Montana. Our roofers are known for the quality of their craftsmanship and dedication. Partner with us and experience the Flag Ship difference.  It is what makes us a roofing partner you trust not just for your next roofing job, but all your future roofing needs.

Single-Ply Roofing Systems

There are different types of single-ply membrane systems available.  A small overview can be helpful for better understanding of the options.

TPO: Engineered for performance, Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) is a fantastic commercial roofing system with many awesome attributes. It is eco-friendly, heat resistant, and can withstand the rough weather that would otherwise abrade or tear your roofing system. Available in three colors (gray, tan, and white) and a range of thicknesses, TPO roofing systems can give your roof a second lease of life. The membrane reflects over 80% of harmful UV rays away from the roof and this reduces your cooling costs.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride):  PVC membrane is an affordable solution with many benefits. It’s highly-reflective, resistant to grease and chemicals, and resistant to tear and wear. Manufactured to stringent standards, PVC comes with polyester reinforcement, UV protection, and bonding agents. Best of all, it is manufactured in larger sheets and results in fewer seams in your roofing system.

Single-Ply Installation

Membrane roofing can be attached to your roofing structure in a couple of different ways.

Mechanical Attachment: Mechanically attached to underlying plates using metal screws and anchors.

Chemical Adhesive:  When mechanical attachment proves impossible, or if you personally prefer, the membranes can be attached with chemical adhesives, bonding the membrane directly on your existing roofing structure.

Though single-ply membranes have a lot of options, they are certainly not infallible.  The biggest failures experienced with membrane roofing systems all result from poor installation.

Flag Ship Foam and Coatings specialize in single-ply membrane installation.  Our team understands not only the steps involved in working with every type of membrane, we are thoroughly knowledgeable about the unique environmental factors here in Montana.
